IRELAND RECYCLING INDUSTRY RESEARCH REPORT

REPORT SCOPE:

This Recycling report is part of OCO Consulting's industrial series of reports, which examine various industries on an all-Ireland basis.

The report aims to provide an accurate and concise overview of the key trends in the recycling market over recent years and to highlight the major factors that are impacting on its performance.

The key drivers of the industry include changing waste management legislation and policy, waste management initiatives and the role of local authorities in implementing schemes and the appropriate infrastructure. In addition, it is important to understand the consequences of industry support and investment in new infrastructure to support recycling targets. In the wider sense, socio-economic factors and trends in consumer expenditure need to be considered, as these will also have an impact on the recycling agenda.

There is limited time series data for both the waste and recycling industries in Ireland. Market size and segmentation data are mainly published for 2004, which is the latest available year for Irish data. Segmentation information is also provided for those components of the waste and recycling industries in Ireland in 2004, namely, municipal waste, commercial and industrial waste, construction, demolition & excavation waste, hazardous waste and packaging waste.

Also included is a review of the supply situation along with short profiles for the key industry players. The report reviews some of the possible future developments in the industry and also presents a short-term forecast for the performance of the market in 2006.
