Released: December 2010 After researching the UK thermal insulation market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report: Market Review 2006-2010: In 2010, the UK thermal insulation market is projected to increase by a nominal 4% to £1269.8 million (at contractors’ prices), more than offsetting the 2% decline recorded in 2009. The value of the market increased in the previous three years, although the level of growth slowed from 8% in 2006 to 1% in 2008. Overall, sales are believed to have still increased by 10% between 2006 and 2010. The decline in 2009 reflects the adverse economic conditions and the downturn in the construction market. In 2010, demand for thermal insulation products is anticipated to return to growth, driven by government incentive schemes, such as CESP and CERT, and by modest improvements in new housebuilding activity. Market Forecast 2011-2015: The UK market for thermal insulation, including building and industrial insulation, is expected to demonstrate growth throughout the forecast period up to 2015. The market is anticipated to show a slightly stronger development during the first half of the period, driven by the government’s CERT and CESP programme, which will run until 2012, and will continue to generate strong demand in the building thermal insulation sector. In 2015, the value of the market is forecast to reach £1606 million, equivalent to overall growth of 26% in real terms compared with 2010.
