Released: May 2010 After researching the UK stationery distribution market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report: Market Review 2005-2009: The value of the UK distributors market declined during the first three years of the review period, following the long term downward trend. In contrast, marginal growth was recorded in 2008, but this is believed to have been followed by a 3% decline in 2009. This is estimated to have taken the value to a period low of £2610.5 million in the latter year. The decline can be attributed to the fall in business activity in the year due to the adverse economic conditions that resulted in a minimal approach to the purchase of stationery products. Market Forecast 2010-2014: The UK market for stationery distribution is expected to continue to decline in real terms throughout the five year forecast period. In 2010, a moderate decline of 2% in real terms is anticipated as the economy is expected to show signs of growth, although the recovery is likely to remain fragile. The market is anticipated to further contract in the following four years, with annual levels of decline forecast to fluctuate between 2% and 4% in real terms. Overall, the value of the market is expected to decline by a cumulative 12% in real terms between 2009 and 2014. Note to Editors: MBD specialises in business to business market research.
