Released: March 2012 After researching the UK shopfitting market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from this MBD report: Market Review 2007-2011: The shopfitting industry has experienced a very difficult period, and sales fell in 2009 by some 14% prior to an even greater reduction in 2010 of 17%. The indications for 2011 are that the market only partially recovered, but at least the very strong reductions in sales in 2009 and 2010 appear to have been arrested. Nonetheless, the market remains at only 75% of the level recorded in 2007. Market Forecast 2012-2016: Potential growth levels in the shopfitting market are subdued in the short term by the continuing concerns over consumer spending power and the propensity of those consumers to spend. Nonetheless, there remains a culture of constant and frequent refurbishment among the major retailers, and growth will continue following the major reductions seen recently in the market. Supermarkets, and selected other retailers continue to have strong expansion programmes, and the total shopfitting market can be expected to recover strongly in the medium term.
