Press Release: UK Residential Windows & Doors Market Development Report

Released: January 2012
Published by Market & Customer Insight (MCi)

After researching the UK residential windows & doors market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from this MBD report:

Market Review 2007-2011:

The UK domestic market for doors, windows and conservatories recovery continued to be weak in 2011, and indeed the level of growth fell from 6% to 2% in the year as housebuilding activity remained muted and consumer spending was adversely affected by the economic uncertainties and difficulties in gaining credit. The situation remains one of conflicting trends with the reduced house moving activity encouraging investment in existing properties, but with reduced credit availability, uncertainty over long term employment and pressure on consumer spending power from wage freezes and increased fuel costs all combining to counter the potential growth.

Market Forecast 2012-2016:

The UK market for doors, door frames, windows, window frames and conservatories is expected to increase throughout the forecast period, but at moderate levels of annual growth.

The windows and window frames sector is anticipated to continue to form the largest element of the UK market, accounting for around 52%-53% of the total market throughout the five year forecast period up to 2016. The sector is expected to demonstrate moderate annual growth in the long term.

The doors and door frames sector is also forecast to increase throughout the review period, and by a slightly stronger level than that for windows, yet growth prospects remain modest.

Sales in the conservatories sector are expected to growth throughout the period under review, but the sector will demonstrate weak growth in the short term, with growth levels rising as the economy improves in the latter stages of the review period.
