After researching the UK residential energy efficiency products market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:
MARKET REVIEW 2003-2007:
The UK residential energy efficiency market is believed to have increased by 2% to £5521 million in 2007. This consolidates growth recorded during each of the four previous years under review. Overall growth of 12% was recorded compared with 2003, with annual growth rates peaking at 10% in 2003.
MARKET FORECAST 2008-2012:
The UK market for residential energy efficiency products, including double glazing, central heating and thermal insulation, is anticipated to decline during the first two years of the forecast period by 5% and 1% respectively in real terms. In the following three years to 2012 annual increases of between 2% and 3% are expected to take the total value of the market to £5616 million (at 2007 prices), representing an increase of 2% in real terms compared with 2007. The Energy White Paper, changes in the Building Regulations that came into effect in 2006, as well as government programmes such as the extension of EEC, the Code for Sustainable Homes, and the recent introduction of Home Information Packs, are believed to further boost UK demand for energy efficiency products over the next five years.
