RELEASED: OCTOBER 2005
After researching the UK pumps market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:
MARKET REVIEW 2001-2005:
The UK market for pumps is expected to increase by 3% in 2005 to a level of £612.8 million, consolidating a 1% increase in sales recorded during 2004. The market is believed to have fluctuated between 2001 and 2004, with a strong declines of 17% and 9% in 2002 and 2003 respectively taking demand to a five year low of £592.7 million during the latter year. However, MBD in part attribute the recent positive development of the market to the increased levels of investment in process plant in during the second half of the review period.
MARKET FORECAST 2006-2010:
Demand for pumps has declined in recent years and MBD expect this trend to continue during first half of the forecast period. The UK pumps market is mature and MBD believe that UK manufacturers will have to concentrate on international markets in order to stimulate growth in the sector, a trend which has been evident during recent years as international sales have been buoyant. However, competition from other EU countries within these markets is already intensifying. Between 2005 and 2010 MBD expect demand for pumps and their parts to decline by 4% in real terms.
