Press Release: UK Public Expenditure on Law, Order & Protective Services Development Report

After researching the UK public expenditure on law, order & protective services development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

Market Review 2000-2004:

Total managed expenditure on services has increased in each year of the review period from £329.8 billion in 2000 to a peak £436.5 billion in 2004, representing an increase of 32% overall. The strongest rate of growth was recorded in 2004 at 9%, this continues the trend of growth having been strengthened in each year of the review period.

TME on law has also increased in each year between 2000 and 2004 to £26.8 billion in the latter year. With the exception of 2000, the rate of growth has been stronger than that recorded in total TME on services. The proportional importance of TME on law was recorded at 6.1% of total expenditure on services in 2004. However, this represents a decline compared with the peak share of 6.2% recorded in 2003.

Market Forecast 2005-2009:

The rate of growth in TME on law are expected to fluctuate somewhat during the forecast period, with most years indicating slightly higher year-on-year increases than those seen in the late 1990s. However, expenditure is forecast to continue to be increased at a faster rate than the total TME. Law TME is forecast to be valued at some £39.8 billion by the end of the forecast period, with annual growth levels varying between 6% and 12%.
