After researching the UK plumbing products market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:
MARKET REVIEW 2004-2008:
In 2008, the UK plumbing products market declined by a moderate 1% to £4382.5 million. This partly reflects the downturn in the UK construction market caused by the economic recession. Prior to this, sales increased year on year with annual growth rates peaking at 11% in 2004. Overall, sales increased by an estimated 24% in the five years under review. The introduction of Part L1 of the building regulations which require gas fired boilers installed after 1st April 2005 and oil fired boilers installed after 1st April 2007, to be condensing boilers whether they are replacements or new installations, is believed to provide to a further boost to the UK plumbing market.
MARKET FORECAST 2009-2013:
By 2013, the UK market for plumbing products is anticipated to reach £4511.3 million (at 2008 prices). The market is projected to decline in 2009 and 2010 reflecting the downturn in the UK economy. However, moderate annual increases of between 2% and 4% are expected in the latter part of the forecast period. Overall a real term increase of 4% is projected between 2008 and 2013.
