Released: August 2010 After researching the UK industrial gases market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from this MBD report: Market Review 2006-2010: The UK market for industrial gases declined by 4% in 2009, which is projected to be followed by a further 1% decline in 2010, taking the value of the market to £758.7 million. This is largely a reflection of the adverse economic conditions, affecting a number of key enduse industries. This is in contrast to modest growth of 1% recorded between 2006 and 2008. A stronger development in the market is believed to have been hindered due to the effects of the rising energy and manufacturing costs and environmental constraints. Market Forecast 2011-2014: The UK market for industrial gases is projected to expand between 2011 and 2015, albeit at modest annual growth rates. Indeed, UK apparent consumption is anticipated to increase by just a marginal level in 2011, partially reflecting the adverse effects of the current economic climate. This is forecast to be followed by slightly stronger annual growth of between 1% and 2% in real terms in the following three years. In 2015, the value of the industrial gases market is expected to reach £791 million (at 2010 prices), equivalent to overall real term growth of 4% compared with the current year. Growth is anticipated to be hindered by a number of factors including the sluggish economic recovery, the high energy and manufacturing costs and environmental restrictions.
