Market Review 2006-2010:

The value of the UK domestic central heating market is estimated to have demonstrated moderate year-on-year growth of 1% in nominal terms between 2008 and 2010, reaching a projected £1629.6 million by the end of the current year. Prior to that stronger growth of 8% was recorded in 2006. The moderate market development in the second half of the review period is a reflection of the economic downturn and reduced new housing output, hindering stronger sales growth However, a downturn in the market is believed to have been avoided, largely due to increased demand for more energy efficient products partly driven by government schemes and grants. Overall, UK apparent consumption of central heating is projected to increase by 5% in nominal terms between 2006 and 2010.

Market Forecast 2011-2015:

The UK market for domestic central heating is expected to increase in each year during the five year forecast period up to 2015, with annual growth levels anticipated to fluctuate between 3% and 6% in real terms. In 2015, the value of the domestic central heating market is expected to reach £2053.1 million (at 2010 prices), representing real term growth of 26% compared with the current year. In the short-term the market development is expected to remain somewhat restricted due to the continued uncertain economic conditions and the subdued housing market. Overall, growth is anticipated to be driven by increased demand for more energy efficient central heating systems and by government grants and incentive schemes.
