RELEASED: APRIL 2005
After researching the UK construction equipment market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:
MARKET REVIEW 2000-2004:
Demand for construction equipment has increased year-on-year during the review period, reflecting the recent growth in the UK construction industry. In 2004 an increase of 4% is estimated to have taken the market to a level of £1069.5 million, representing an overall increase of 39% compared with 2000. Growth in the construction equipment sector over the review period directly reflects the buoyant market conditions in the construction industry which is fuelling the demand for equipment.
MARKET FORECAST 2005-2009:
UK demand for construction equipment is expected to decline year-on-year throughout the forecast period. MBD believe that this is due to construction companies having invested in their own equipment for the long term, therefore affecting the replacement cycle for construction equipment. MBD anticipate sales to decline by 13% in real terms between 2004 and 2009.
