After researching the UK complimentary & alternative medicines market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:
MARKET REVIEW 2003-2007:
MBD believe the UK market for herbal, homeopathic and aromatherapy products increased by 5% to £225 million at RSP in 2007, consolidating growth demonstrated between 2003 and 2006. Sales increased during each year under review, with annual levels of growth oscillating between 4% and 6%. Demand for CAM products is believed to have increased by an overall 20% between 2003 and 2007, reflecting increased availability and reduced costs.
MARKET FORECAST 2008-2012:
The UK market for herbal, homeopathic and aromatherapy products is projected to increase during each year of the forecast period, demonstrating overall real term growth of 12% between 2007 and 2012. In the latter year, demand is expected to increase by 2% to £253 million (at 2007 prices). Moderate growth is anticipated during the forecast period, with annual rates fluctuating between 1% and 3%. Projected growth reflects increased availability of CAM products, the continued ageing of the UK population, and the increasing integration of CAM therapies and traditional medicine.
