MARKET REVIEW 2004-2008:
The value of the UK market for architectural ironmongery is believed to have declined by 6% to £1084.2 million in 2008, reflecting the current downturn in the construction market, especially new housebuild activity. This followed year-on-year growth between 2004 and 2007, culminating in an overall increase of 5% during the review period.
MARKET FORECAST 2009-2013:
The UK market for architectural ironmongery is expected to decline by 6% to £1020.4 million (at 2008 prices) in 2009. This reflects the current economic recession and the adverse impact on the construction market. Nonetheless, economic conditions are expected to improve in the latter half of the forecast period with moderate annual growth of between 2% and 3% anticipated. Overall demand is expected to decline by 2% in real terms between 2008 and 2013.
