UK AIR CONDITIONING MARKET RESEARCH REPORT

After researching the UK air conditioning market development and taking into account various other factors the following conclusions can be drawn from MBD's report:

MARKET REVIEW 2003-2007:

The UK market for air conditioning equipment reached an estimated £688.1 million in 2007, equivalent to growth of 1% in the year. This follows slightly stronger growth levels of between 3% and 5% recorded in the previous three years. The more moderate increase during 2007 is believed to be a partial reflection of the comparatively cool summer and the slowdown in economic growth during the second half of the year. During the five year review period, demand for air conditioning equipment has continued to be driven by commercial applications, with continued construction growth in the commercial sector also exerting a positive influence on the market. Demand from the domestic sector has also increased during recent years, partly reflecting a warmer climate and higher levels of disposable income, although residential applications continue to account for a small proportion of the market.

MARKET FORECAST 2008-2012:

The UK market for air conditioning equipment is expected to decline in 2008, albeit at a marginal level in real terms, reflecting the more uncertain economic conditions during the year. Nonetheless, MBD forecast moderate growth for the following four years, with annual growth levels expected to fluctuate between 1% and 2% in real terms. In 2012, the value of the market is expected to reach £738.1 million at 2007 prices, representing overall growth of 7% in real terms compared with 2007.
